City Hollywood is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 139,357 at the 2000 census. As of 2005, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau is 145,629. Founded in 1925, the city grew rapidly in the 1950s and 1960s, and is now the ninth largest city in Florida. It is served by the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the 23rd busiest airport in the United States. As of 1998, the taxable value of property in the city exceeded.4 billion dollars. Hollywood gained recent notoriety due to the death of actress Anna Nicole Smith on February 8th 2007 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in the Seminole Indian reservation of western Hollywood.
