Lake Worth is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, which takes it's name from the intercoastal waterway along it's eastern border. The lake itself was named for General William J. Worth, who led U.S. forces during the Second Seminole War. The population was 35,133 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 35,485.
