City Frederick is the county seat of Frederick County, Maryland. As of the 2006 census estimates, the city has a total population of 58,882, making it the third-largest city in Maryland. Frederick is home to Frederick Municipal Airport, which primarily accommodates general aviation traffic, and to the U.S. Army's Fort Detrick, the largest employer in the county.
