Amalga is a town in Cache County, Utah, United States. The population was 427, at the 2000 census, a modest increase over the 1990 figure of 366. It is included in the Logan, Utah-Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is the location of the Cache Valley Cheese plant, the largest Swiss cheese factory in the world. A large portion of the town's population are dairy farmers, with many families owning their own herds. The overwhelming majority of the population belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Amalga does not have a post office, and all of its mail is routed through nearby Smithfield.
