Colfax is a city in Whitman County, Washington, United States. It is located in a valley at the confluence of the North and South forks of the Palouse River, in the midst of steeply rolling wheat-covered hills. In the past, Colfax also lay at the crossroads of three railway lines. It is the Whitman County seat and was named after Grant's Vice President, Schuyler Colfax.
